007 . Interlude Part 3

Time for gothic girls to sigh again and dress their best black suits: the new HIM album is finally available. Since I'm a fetishist of nice cd boxes/digipacks/ultrarare editions I purchased the Internet Limited Edition (my issue is 18.586/20.000):

Inside the cool metal box I found a logo flashlight-chain (now I can project the HIM logo around, that's a little bit nerdy, I know ^__^), the 32 pages booklet, their signs and obviously the CD with two (nice) bonus tracks.
Ok, let's put it clear: Dark Light sounds more like a collection of songs than a homogenous work, and definitely it is NOT their best album (Razorblade Romance rules), but still few bands can write songs as catchy as them. I was a little bit disappointed after the first listening but after a while (as always happens with their songs) I fell in love with several tracks: the opener Vampire Heart, the sleeping hit Under The Rose, Killing Loneliness (oh man, the beginning is stolen from a 69 Eyes song - Still Water Run Deep! That's a catch 22, since 69 Eyes themselves always wanted to be as good as HIM…), Play Dead, the bonus track Venus (In Our Blood)...
The funny thing is that the titletrack really (REALLY) sucks. Shit happens.

Anyway it's a pity they wasted some good ideas (like the electronic outro of Under The Rose, that sounds senseless there and could have been used better) because, even if they still sounds great, they're not fresh as they were some years ago. We can expect more than this from Ville and his mates...Let's hope for a little revolution next time. And please, change hair cut Ville! Now you look like a fat version of Billy Joe...
